WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington Police arrested a man they say led them on a foot chase, after allegedly trying to get into two cars in a store parking lot, all over a some shirts and socks.

It all started when a man was spotted stuffing his pants with socks and t-shirts at the CVS on Oleander Drive around 10 a.m. When a worker confronted the man, he forced his way out to the parking lot.

According to a 911 call, the man tried to force his way into a woman's car and eventually pulled her from her car.

"He's hitting her," the caller told an operator. "He's beating the crap out of this woman in my parking lot, because she won't take off. The cops are on their way, ma'am. The cops are on their way."

The caller said the man then ran to another vehicle, forcing the driver out of the car.

That's when police arrived.

Officers say they chased Tracey Lamont Greene through the parking lot, across Oleander and into the hillcrest community, where they arrested him.

An officer returned the stolen t-shirts and socks to the store.

Greene is charged with larceny and other crimes. Police say he also had several outstanding warrants.

Give the guy a break...

... he was just under the massive pressure of societal oppression demanding not steal the basic needs for acquiring his drugs. The store should not have had those items to easily accessed - should have t-shirts and socks behind the counter to remove temptation.

And the woman was at fault for being beaten by being there with a vehicle he could access for his flight. All perps of color deserve an opportunity to escape without resistance.

This is just black profiling by the store clerk. He was going to pay for all those things stuffed in his pants. And those outstanding felony warrants - nothing more than racial profiling. There are no black criminals, that's just a made-up story-line for The Man to justify their arrest quotas. This bro be aw-ight!

Yes, I'm kidding, morons. I hope when he's paroled someone puts a bullet or six in him. You don't screw "with folks not in 'The Game.'" Evuh!!

The world needs a few

The world needs a few modified Dexters, you know a guy that at least goes around and beats the s__t out of some of these idiots. wish he had jumped in my car, I would have taken him for a ride all aright!

Hillcrest

What a fine community. He was probably trying to get safely back to his free taxpayer provided residence

Socks & Underwear

. . . are easier to sell than booze or cigs???? Boy, that's news to me!

Stealing is Never Right

. . . but how sad. It wasn't booze or cigs - it was socks & underwear.

Resale

That's because those items are easy to resale.

No doubt, I was just in the

No doubt, I was just in the Hess parking lot the other day and bought some black market gloves!?
