Winnabow man sentenced to prison for attempted rape of autistic minor

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- A Winnabow man is sentenced to 15 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to sex crimes with an autistic minor.

Michael Mclachlin, 39, pleaded guilty in Brunswick County Superior Court on June 12 for attempted statutory rape of an autistic boy, according to the District Attorney's Office.

Mclachlin faces 15 years behind bars, and will be required to register as a sex offender for 30 years after his release.

Mclachlin may also be required to wear a monitoring device after he serves his time.

Rape of any child is wrong - but an autistic child? I don't care if the child was functionally autistic or not.
This is the lowest of the low.
There is no prison that too bad for this person.
And pl;ease, don't give me the "bubba will take care of him" schtick - even THAT'S too good for this creep.
