FORT FISHER, NC (WWAY) — While WWAY’s Holden Kurwicki was getting video of a rare sea turtle nest at Fort Fisher State Park this morning, lifeguards had to spring into action.

The surf pulled three children and two adults out too far, and they were struggling to make it back. Lifeguard Caleb Epler was able to get his raft to them and get them back in safely.

Interestingly Epler was the same lifeguard who rescued a woman on camera earlier this month while Holden was shooting a story.

There probably wasn’t an actual raft, the folks writing probably just aren’t aware that the orange “thingy” is actually called a “rescue can” or just “can”.
