WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — While South Carolina’s Mark Sanford has made his political comeback and Anthony Weiner and Eliot Spitzer work on their in New York, it could take a while for the Tar Heel State to elect John Edwards to office again.

A Raleigh-based Public Policy Polling survey shows just 15 percent of North Carolina voters have a favorable opinion of Edwards to 67 percent with a negative one of the former senator and vice presidential candidate. That is up from a year ago when only 11 percent had a favorable compared to 73 percent with an unfavorable opinon.

Two-thirds of voters say they would rule out the possibility of voting for Edwards in the future. Meanwhile 19 percent are open to the idea.
