WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Bikers from near and far put the pedal to the metal for BMX bike day at Greenfield Grind Skate Park in Wilmington this weekend.
The goal was to promote the changing city rules to allow bikers to use skate parks. Currently only skateboards and rollerblades are allowed access to the skate park. Bikers say the sport keeps them happy and healthy, and should be considered.
"Being able to travel around and meet new people and go to new places. This is my first time in this wonderful city and I am loving it," said extreme biker Brad Secor. "It's an all around awesome sport. It keeps me healthy, keeps me doing good in life. It gives me something to wake up for, I guess."
This BMX bike day was the first in the ten years the facility has been open. Bikers around Wilmington hope to convince lawmakers to switch gears soon.
