CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A Carolina Beach Police officer fired a month ago after wrecking his cruiser in Pender County is off the job for good.

The town told former Sgt. Chris Chafin this week it is upholding his termination.

According to a memo from Interim Town Manager Ed Parvin, Chafin’s dismissal is a result of his “unsatisfactory job performance, detrimental personal conduct, use of equipment, unbecoming conduct, and lack of truthfulness.”

WWAY was the first to report that Chafin had been disciplined. The incident also led then Interim Town Manager Bruce Shell to order a review and overhaul of the Carolina Beach Police Department’s policies and procedures.

I know he is a great guy and probably did not deserve this. Lets add another one to the list. How many times are folks going to say one bad apple doesn’t spoil the whole lot of them.
