WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Leland woman is charged with hit and run after police say she crashed into a Wilmington apartment building early Monday morning.

Investigators say Shatiqua Bowser, 22, said she dropped her cell phone, leaned over to get it and hit the gas pedal.

Police say she did not give them a reason for why she left the scene at Cypress Grove Apartments.

Would really love to know who actually owns Cypress Grove Apartments. That place is run down and in need of repair. The health department closed down the pool. It didn’t even open this season. The complex didn’t even know the pool man had retired. They don’t even know some of the tenants that are living in the buildings. One set of family that is there doesn’t even know how much rent they are supposed to pay a month. The laundry rooms are horrible and not even watched for undesirables. Guess what I don’t live there and I know a lot of what is wrong there. The owners need to know that the manager isn’t doing there jobs. As far as the girl hitting the apartment wouldn’t surprise me if she was there doing a drug deal. Happens in broad daylight. Hey Mr./Ms./Mrs. police person how about start doing some patrolling threw there. Bet you would see a lot of mess going on.
