4-year-old boy honored at City Council meeting

READ MORE:

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) – A 4-year-old boy was recognized by city council Tuesday after he alerted his grandmother when he found a gun on a local playground.

On July, 23, Aaron McIntyre was playing in the Portia Mills Hines Park when he found a loaded handgun underneath the stairs. The boy reported the find to his grandmother, who called 911 to report it to police.

Tuesday, Mayor Bill Saffo presented Aaron with the Outstanding Junior Citizen Award because of his “honorable choice” to turn in the gun.

Aaron received a goodie bag, stuffed animal and a $50 gift card.

Police officers said the gun, which had a bullet in the chamber when Aaron found it, had not been reported stolen.

Seems to me a little black boy has been recognized and there's a problem, like someone else said crime could happen anywhere they just don't put the "white crime" on tv quick as they do the "black crime" sorry I had to go there but yaull should not commented nothing like that on this, this lil boy in young n innocent let him be recognized

Seems to me?

Not taking away from what this fine young man has done by finding a loaded gun but, I don"t see any other children from any other neighborhoods such as Pine Valley or Landfall would ever find loaded guns there. The ghettos are the places where the guns are being found and shot. If one would think about it and notice just exactly where the shots are being shot and the people are being shot then you would figure that the people that live in those areas are the ones that are the problem, not all the other neighborhoods through out Wilmington and New Hanover County. Just saying.

Murder

I think if you will take the time to check Wilmington still has an unsolved murder that occurred in Pine Valley about 2 years ago.

Seems to me?

This is a little boy, it seems to me you would recognize he doesn't have a choice of where he lives. Also remember crime could happen anywhere.
