WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police say a 6-year-old boy was home alone when a robber broke into his home.

They say the crime happened Monday morning around 7:30 a.m. on the 700 block of S. 11th Street.

A neighbor, who did not want to appear on camera, said yesterday was the first time the mother had left her son alone while she went to work.

She also added she saw the intruder walk toward the back of the house on her surveillance camera. Police say that’s where the suspect broke in. They found a brick through a window and a removed screen.

When the little boy saw the man come in, he hid and then called his mother.

The boy was not hurt but the robber got away with a Kindle Fire.

Police say they have not made an arrest.
