WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington artist will be featured in this year’s World of Art Showcase in Raleigh.

The World of Art Showcase is an international show, where professional and emerging artists can connect. Sandy Nelson is one of hundreds to be selected for the show, and the only artist from the Port City.

Nelson says she has been painting for many years, and also teaches art here in Wilmington. Her work has been included in more than 60 corporate and museum collections.

She says she is honored to be among the artists selected from around the world.

Nelson says she has never done a show like this, but she is looking forward to meeting the other artists.

“It’s really exciting, because I’ll get to meet a lot of people who love art, and hopefully like what I do as well as everyone else,” she said.

Nelson says the whole experience is a thrill. She says this will be a fun learning experience for her.

The World of Art Showcase runs Nov. 1-3 at the Convention Center in Raleigh.
