WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Locally shot “We’re the Millers” finished second at the weekend box office, but led the way for the most tickets sales overall last week.

“We’re the Millers,” starring Jason Sudeikis and Jennifer Aniston, raked in $26.6 million over the weekend to finish behind the Matt Damon action flick “Elysium,” which made $30.4 million. But “Millers” has sold $38 million in tickets since opening Wednesday.

Meanwhile, another Wilmington shot film continues to score at the box office. “The Conjuring” made $6.7 million over the weekend (eighth best), which brings its four-week total to $121 million dollars.

“The Conjuring” is one of three movies shot in our area, along with “Safe Haven” and “Iron Man 3,” that opened atop the weekend box office.
