WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) –- Wilmington Police said they responded to a home invasion involving seven suspects just after 1 a.m. Wednesday morning.

According to police the victim’s mother alerted them after she got a call from her daughter, who said she was being robbed. Police say the victim’s mother waited about an hour to call police, who then responded to a check welfare call.

When police arrived the victim said seven men pushed their way into her home in the 3500 block of Metting Road. She said six of the men had handguns. The other was carrying a rifle.

The woman said the suspects ransacked her home room by room and took her cell phone and other electronics.

Investigators say she was able to grab her two children and run to a friend’s house.

Police have not made any arrests.

Hopefully, if these thugs aren’t immediately apprehended, they’ll very quickly embark on a homeowner that’s “properly prepared”, like me and like a lot of my friends! There won’t be a need for a search.

I’m very puzzled by the report stating the victims mother “…waited about and hour to call the police…” That just doesn’t sound right. And why call “mom” instead of 911?
Fishee, fishaaaaay! The victims name isn’t Susan Smith is it?

It does sound fishy that 911 wasn’t called right away. I agree with you.

Everything about this report sounds bizarre. Why call your mom and not 911? Why wait an hour to call police? Why didn’t the neighbors call when she went to them? 7 men, 6 with guns and all they wanted was a few electronic items? There has to be more to the story!

Probably had to wait so they could rid of the drugs that the robbers didn’t find before the police could show up and find with the K9.

well gun fire might be down, with that fake “cease fire” (more like “save your ammo”)thing but it definitely appears we are experiencing an up swing in these home invasions…..maybe law enforcement can work on that one!

does anybody have a description of the 7, it would help a lot for the news to give a brief description so we would know what to look out for in our neighborhoods, as far as 7, that wouldn’t be much of a problem to handle for most of the people I know, I can gaurantee you after a run in there would be some career changes ahead for most of them.

Thank goodness these 7 heard about the “cease fire” while they were at church. Someone might have gotten hurt when the guns discharged. I am sure the pastor’s sermon prevented them from shooting. If the cops will watch the local churches tonight maybe they will spot them as they leave prayer meeting.
Seriously, you KNOW why there is no description of the thugs. It might lead to racial profiling. If this is not the case, perhaps the process of obtaining descriptions would have taken some actual JOURNALISM.
