WHITEVILLE, NC (WWAY) -- A Whiteville girl is recovering from injuries from a drive-by shooting at her home overnight.
Zyria Hickman, 12, was hit in the head and neck by metal and shattered glass. She is expected to be OK.
Today she talked to us at the hospital and described the scene that unfolded as she played at her east clay street home late last night.
"I just felt something hit my neck and my head, but I couldn't really tell what it was, and then I seen blood just running down my face real fast, and then I started crying and stuff," she said.
Police say 31 shots were fired at the house, where Zyria, her mom, two younger siblings and another child were inside. They don't know why they were targeted
Police have not yet made any arrests.
