GREENVILLE, NC (AP) – East Carolina wants to leave Conference USA with a title.

The Pirates enter their final season in the league they’ve called home since 1997 as a favorite to claim a third title in six years.

East Carolina and Tulane are leaving C-USA for the American Athletic Conference beginning next season.

Coach Ruffin McNeill says he welcomes the high expectations that come with being picked by his fellow C-USA coaches as the favorite in the East Division.

He says the Pirates “have a target on our back and will get everybody’s best shot.”

With a strong core of returning players – 16 starters are back, including quarterback Shane Carden and running back Vintavious Cooper – East Carolina has plenty of reasons for optimism.

It appears New Hanover wins county and the conference. Followed by maybe Hoggard and I dare say Ashley.
Poor Laney looks terrible, the second best team overall last night was Wallace Rose Hill. My Vikings looked average at best. Not much talent, or so it seems. But I am going to put it out there and say Laney may win 1 game or maybe not a single game in conference. The teams the Bucs may beat are Topsail, and South Brunswick. Ashley may get 3 wins or maybe a 4th. Hoggard will lose to Hanover again and Ashley may surprise them too. The WRH Dogs will have a great year. Again I am pulling for the Vikes but the Cats own us all again.

Goodness gracious! South looks horriblee and who’s idea was it for those jerseys?? Coach Walt leaves for SC Coach Tony leaves for North and this is what south ends up performing like/looking like? My my my hands down classes of ’08 and ’09 showed what south football really looked like, we built a dynasty, Coach Walters perfected it. Sucks the program went down hill after Walt left with the class of ’09.
