WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — An early morning crash that sent a Wilmington bicyclist to the hospital Tuesday also landed the driver who hit him behind bars.
Police say the accident happened around 7:30 a.m. at Dawson and 5th Streets. They say Jason Eugene Little, 36, was riding his bicycle to work when the driver of a van ran a red light at the intersection.
When WWAY got to the scene, the driver, Jerrson Arnold Bardeles Ouiedo, 27, was put into handcuffs by police and was later charged with both driving without a driver's license and running a red light.
Police and traffic units responded to the scene to help direct traffic after they shut down two lanes on Dawson Street, and completely closed down the block of 5th Street from Dawson to Wooster.
There's no word yet on the condition of the bicyclist, who dispatchers say was transported to the hospital from the scene.
Ouiedo is in the New Hanover County Jail under a $1,000 secured bond.

I don’t know what is more dangerous…riding a bike in Wilmington anywhere or being a food delivery driver in the inner city or (cab driver).

I’ll play it safe and avoid all 3.

    mmm….mmmm…mmmmm :|

A man is injured because the driver disregards the traffic laws and the driver gets charged with a traffic violation. I hope there are some type of assault charges coming.

Another immigrate with no DL. Let me guess??? No insurance. Law says if your in state more than 6 months you are suppose to have NC plates and DL. Think anyone checks for that.
