LELAND, NC (WWAY) — A gas leak led to several homes being evacuated in the Brunswick Forest subdivision in Leland.

Leland Deputy Fire Chief Ronnie Hayes said a construction crew working on a house at 1132 Evangeline Drive this morning hit a 3/4-inch gas line. Hayes says eight to 10 homes were evacuated for a short time.

Hayes says everything is fine now, and firefighters have cleared the scene.
