WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The mother of a popular rapper might be coming to Wilmington to help stop the gun violence.

Beverly Broadus Green, mother of Snoop Dogg also known as Snoop Lion, said she wants to come to the Port City this fall to talk to area kids and gangs about how important it is to make good choices in life.

Marvin Fredlaw, Green's manager, has ties to the city and confronted her about the shootings plaguing the area.

Fredlaw says Green travels the country on missions like this so he is working with Love Center Church to make this trip possible.

Fredlaw lives in California now, but grew up in Wilmington. He said when he heard about the violence he felt obligated to do something.

"I told her I really wanted to do something about this, but I don't know what I can do. She said 'well I know what you can do, take me to Wilmington.' She will be giving speeches, she will be preaching, she will personally go out and meet with gang members," Fredlaw said.

He also added that Green plans to work with the Boys and Girls Club while she visits.

Plans are still being finalized but Fredlaw says Wilmington can expect to see the preacher in the beginning of November.

Snoop himself should come.

Snoop himself should come. He could pass out weed and get them all too mellow to shoot each other.

The mother of a popular rapper

Why would anyone want to listed to Doofus Dogs mother.
Is it that she did such a great job with snoogles?
If she really wants to do something, she could tell her son to grow up, quit smoking dope, and stop doing music videos that glorify street crime and unwed minority teenaged girls.

But to quote Snoopid, it's all about "get money". She'll get hers with the help of a local church.

Stay at home Beverly...

The gang bangers don't read the news or get the Chief's memos. Your words will fall on deaf ears.

Ain't nuttin but a

G thang!

anything that will help

It seems as though the downtown area of wilmington is becoming worse by the day. Lots of young children on the wrong path. I actually called in a 911 call when I heard shots fired. I looked to my left and saw two children hit the ground as natural reaction two more running and a possible sibling duo paused not knowing what to do. The next day there was a report of a 17 yr old shot on a basketball court where i heard then shots fired. I can't event count how many young children gun incidents have happened since then. What I can say is that anything is worth a try. Life is too precious and that age group specifically doesn't realize the damage and loss that they are causing and if they do amd don't care... they need to learn to care or have some serious couseling.
