More details revealed in Kinston woman’s death

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) – A Texas detective says a woman accused in the 2011 murder and dismemberment of a Kinston mother of two was caught on a security camera dumping muriatic acid near the home of the victim’s sister.

WRAL-TV in Raleigh reports ( Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office homicide detective Brad Wichard testified Thursday that the camera caught Amanda Hayes dumping four cartons containing seven full one-gallon bottles of muriatic acid at the end of a cul-de-sac near the home of Karen Berry.

Berry is the sister of Laura Ackerson, whose remains were found in a creek in Richmond, Texas, 60 miles southwest of Houston.

Grant Hayes and his 27-year-old wife, Amanda, are both charged in the case. Grant Hayes is currently on trial and faces life in prison without parole if convicted.
