Suspected car arsonist arrested

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington police arrested a man today suspected of setting multiple cars on fire.

After a joint arson investigation conducted by the Wilmington Fire & Police Departments, investigators arrested 28-year-old Jason Neil Davis of Wilmington. He's charged with two counts of arson and one count of vandalism.

Police and Fire personnel responded to 5659 Market Street on Sunday, September 1st around 9:00 pm to investigate several car fires. When they arrived they discovered that some vehicles had also been vandalized.

Davis is in the New Hanover County Jail this afternoon under a $12,000 secured bond. More charges will likely be filed.

Investigators say a total of 12 individually owned vehicles were vandalized and or set on fire.
