HAMPSTEAD, NC (WWAY) -- Deputies in Pender County say a woman who was shot in the abdomen late Thursday night knew her shooter.

It happened at a home off of Highway 17 North in Hampstead just after 10:00 p.m.

Captain Jamie Ezzell says when crews arrived on the scene, they found 37-year-old Oteeshia T. Brown with two gunshot wounds to the abdomen.

Investigators say Brown was shot by the homeowner, who they say thought an intruder was breaking into her home.

According to Captain Ezzell, the shooter was an acquaintance of Brown's. He also told our reporter on the scene that Brown and her shooter went to dinner earlier in the evening.

Brown was transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries. Deputies are still investigating, but no charges have been filed.

Now that's....

How to end a horrible date. Have dinner with someone, take them back to your place, shoot them in the belly and play it off as you thought it was an intruder.
