CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County dispatch tells us a boat overturned around noon about three miles off of Carolina Beach.

At 4:00 pm, radio traffic reported the boat, a 29-foot Pro-Line, had been spotted about 10 miles off shore. The boat may have still been running.

One aboard swam to shore and landed at Freeman Park. Radio traffic from EMS to New Hanover Regional Medical Center said the man is 67-years old. He told an EMS worker he was in the water for around three hours swimming towards shore when a kayaker picked him up.

The second boater was located but authorities will not release any information regarding that person.
