BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Railroad giant CSX is expected to make a big announcement tomorrow in Brunswick County, according to Brunswick County Economic Development Commission Executive Director Jim Bradshaw.
Bradshaw says CSX executives are flying in from Virginia and Florida for the event at 2 p.m. at the BCC Leland Industrial Park. Bradshaw said he could not say exactly what it is, but it deals with the Mid Atlantic Industrial Rail Park.
“It’s not a job creator yet, but it could be,” Bradshaw said.
The Mid Atlantic Industrial Rail Park is one of two sites along US 74/76 near the Columbus County line leaders have tried to develop. Bradshaw says companies including Continental Tire and Mitsubishi have considered it in the past. Caterpillar looked at the International Logistics Park across the highway.
Bradshaw says CSX already operates the Davis Rail Yard near Navassa, which is the major rail yard for the Wilmington area.
