WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man stabbed outside a downtown Wilmington gas station Monday is speaking out.

Joseph King says he was talking with a homeless man he knows outside of the Family Fare at N. 3rd and Red Cross streets when Antoine Chapelle James confronted him and demanded money. King says he fought back, and that’s when King says James stabbed him twice.

“He wanted my money, and I wasn’t giving it to him, and next thing I know is I’ve got a hole in my neck and a hole in my side,” King said.

King says he has a collapsed lung, but he is expected to make a full recovery.

James is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He is in jail under $25,000 secured bond.

We all understood that this guy was stabbed. We didn’t need to see the wound with our breakfast. Thanks for that added sensationalism which was nasty and so not needed for the story.

This may come as a surprise to you, but the news isn’t tailored around your own personal eating habits.

It’s a big world out there and it’s not just centered around you.

Why isnt he charged with attempted Murder?!! Guess it makes more sense to wait until he actually kills someone…..

It’s a matter of intent. Did the man intend to kill him or just harm him so that he could get his money?

I’m sure I’m not the only one that didn’t like SEEING it on the morning news while I was having breakfast, which caught me unaware, but I’m sure more people like to see that kind of thing than I would imagine.

No, the world is most certainly NOT centered around me, and some responders on here just like to make comments NOT based on an opinion of the story (which mine was), but to attack others to make themselves feel superior…anonymously, of course…while saying nothing about the story at all.
