WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Wilmington Police are searching for a couple of suspects after they say two fast food workers were robbed at gunpoint late last night.
It happened just after the workers closed down the Burger King at 1901 S. 16th St. for the night.
Police say the employees were walking to their cars to leave for the night when two men jumped out of the bushes across the street. A police spokeswoman says the suspects forced the victims on the ground, stole some things from them and then and forced the workers back into the restaurant. Inside they stole money from the safe.
Police say one of the men had a revolver, while the other had an automatic handgun. Both suspects are black males, who were wearing black hoodies. One of the men was wearing a hockey mask, and the other was wearing a blue bandanna over his face. They say both men are about 6' tall, one in blue jeans, and the other wearing blue gym shorts.
Police say K-9 units and SABLE had no luck in tracking the duo, who got away with thousands of dollars in cash. They say the men also stole the employees' wallets and cell phones.
