WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A new partnership in southeastern North Carolina will make it easier for physicians to share information they say will improve patient care.

Wilmington Health, New Hanover Regional Medical Center and Blue Cross Blue Shield North Carolina created an alliance they say will also reduce costs. The groups plans to work together to uncover gaps in care.

“It will allow this community, regardless of where the patients are seen, where they enter the healthcare delivery system, for all the providers who are involved with their care to understand what is going on with those patients at any given time,” Wilmington Health CEO Jeff James said.

James says these collaborations were not possible in the past because of all the competition. He says these groups are coming together now for the benefit of the patient.
