WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) -- The British Motor Club of the Cape Fear sponsored the "Brits at the Beach" Car Show this weekend at Wrightsville Beach Park.
Organizers say cars of all ages deserve care and attention, and they hope car shows like this will spark an interest in the younger generation. The club's goal is to preserve older cars and the art of motoring.
“In the 30’s and in the 40’s, on a Sunday afternoon, you would just hop in the car and just drive for the sake of driving,” said British Motor Club’s Pam McMahon. “One in the 21st century may find that hard to believe that people enjoy driving. But that is the art of motoring.”
McMahon says there is nothing like feeling the road beneath you, and that’s what driving is all about. She also says the car show is not just a competition. All of the proceeds from the show go to local charities like the Boys and Girls Club and the Pink Ribbon Club of New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
A list of all of the winners will be posted on by British Motor Club on its website, www.bmccf.org.
