Grant to help BCC Small Business Incubator

LELAND, NC (WWAY) -- Federal money will help a program in Brunswick County aimed at getting small businesses off the ground.

The Brunswick Community College Small Business Incubator got $200,000 in federal grants today.

The grant is intended to create three to four business incubator spaces at the college's Work Force Training Center in Leland. The center will provide office equipment, support services and training.

"When you look at the backbone of most any community in the United States, it's small business, and we wanted to have the opportunity through this incubator to encourage entrepreneurs, small businesses to get created in Brunswick County," said Jim Bradshaw, Brunswick County Economic Development Executive Director.

The project is expected to incubate four new businesses that will create as many as 20 jobs within 24 months.

Arcade MFG will be the first business to set up shop. It is a worldwide manufacturer of surf fins, pads and leashes.
