WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — An American Red Cross volunteer from Brunswick County is heading to Colorado to help with the response for the massive flooding there.

Chuck Thurlow is the former chairman of the board for the Cape Fear Chapter of the Red Cross. He says his job in colorado will be to coordinate where to send help.

“For example if the emergency management system needs more shelters to open, I would be the interface with the red cross to coordinate where those shelters would be,” Thurlow said.

Thurlow should be in Colorado for the next several weeks.
