Charlotte man accused in crash that killed woman

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Authorities have charged an 18-year-old Charlotte man in connection with a hit-and-run accident that killed a 19-year-old woman and left four others seriously hurt.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said Uriel Eduardo Flores was arrested Thursday and charged with involuntary manslaughter and felony hit and run.

A statement from police said a car struck a utility pole on the city's south side Wednesday evening. Emergency personnel pronounced the driver, Shaquise Bush, dead at the scene. One passenger was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with serious injuries.

Three young children in the back seat were also hospitalized, one of them with what was described by police as critical injuries.
