DUPLIN COUNTY, NC ( — An alleged gang member who eluded law enforcement for much of Thursday near Mayfaire Town Center in Wilmington is in custody in Duplin County.
Nahun Maldonado Funez was arrested Saturday morning in Wilmington, a Duplin County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said.
Nahun Funez ran Thursday when officers tried to serve warrants on him and his brother, Marlon Maldonado Funez, in the Landfall neighborhood. The Funez brothers were working as contracted landscapers in the neighborhood.

Good job, Law Enforcement. Sometimes it’s best to pick your battles.

Sad news. He’ll be exported, and permanently banned from the US. He’ll pop up again, in Columbia SC, or Atlanta, or NY City.

  • Guest0101 says:

What is he an antique? I think he will be DEPORTED

  • Guest910 says:

I actually worked with the 2 for months. They were hard working and really nice. There were no signs of them being violent. Plus the charges are from 2003 people do change. I used to get in alot of trouble back then and now I’m a honest hard working man with a family. They may have been illegal but they had the right paper work and identification needed to work so who knew until this. It’s ready to judge people when you don’t know them. And even after all this I would still work with these two guys any day.

  • Vog46 says:

These guys supposedly had papers allowing them to work here. Brought to you buy those famous conservatives cow towing to their corporate sponsors who need cheap labor…..
There are two sides to every story.
So do you favor Hamrony Hospitality building a hotel by raising funds allowing Chinese “instant” visa’s for X amount of dollars?
    These’s a corporate loop hole for you – called the EB5 program…..

    It ain’t just libsters Burgerboy

  • Burgerboy says:

Way to go libsters, you let hordes of illegal crimmigrants from taco town flood into the US and nowadays you don’t know if your landscaper is a illegal alien violent gang member who’s committed several murders and armed robbery’s!

  • PublicAvenger says:

    Unfortunately he’s a ‘import’.

  • Maureen A. Wilson says:

Would love to know what ‘paperwork’ or ‘valid’ documents these two illegal aliens presented.

No stamped passport, no work visa, no social security card, no driver’s license, no permanent residence card, no U.S. birth certificate ….ahh, perhaps, it was a Mexican Matricula Consular ID card..then, onto an I.T.I.N. number.

Or, perhaps, the docs were forged.

Now, had E-Verify been in place and NOT gutted, two U.S. workers would have jobs and at minimum 2 legal workers employed.

How much has this escapade cost the taxpayers…to date?

  • Vog46 says:

I don’t know how this guy got by all the LEO’s at Landfall and Mayfaire butI am glad he’s been caught.
It must be extremely disconcerting to the folks at Landfall to know that guys convicted of illegal immigration, previously deported, and members of a gang were on their property performing landscaping duties – and possibly “casing” your homes at the same time…..
Good job by the LEOs in Duplin county.

  • smither says:

These guys work for Landfall COA.

  • rule-34 says:

…were these guys working for? Why isn’t there any mention about the landscaping company they worked for? Most companies working in Landfall are no doubt staffed with illegal immigrants, but it sure would be nice to know which one had hired this pair.
