Domestic dispute over chicken leads to arrest


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A convicted felon is back behind bars after he reportedly fired a gun inside his house after getting into a fight with his girlfriend over chicken.

Leslie M. McNeal, 55 was arrested Tuesday night after firing a handgun inside his home on N.12th Street.

According to the Wilmington Police Department McNeal and his girlfriend got into an argument over chicken.

Police say after their fight, McNeal left the home and returned a short time later carrying a gun.

Authorities say McNeal threatened his girlfriend before firing a shot inside their home.

Police later found McNeal and a hand gun at his mother's house.

According to the Department of Corrections, McNeal has a number of other felony and misdemeanor convictions.

McNeal faces several charges including; communicating threats, two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon and one count of discharging a fire arm in the city limits.
