Wilmington man accused of assaulting, choking ex-girlfriend during break-in

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- A Wilmington man is behind bars without bond after police say he broke into a home and tried to strangle his ex-girlfriend.

Police arrested Kenyatta Sharome Williams, 36, Thursday.

Investigators believe Williams broke into his ex-girlfriend's home twice during the last month. During one of the break-ins they say he assaulted and choked her.

Williams is charged with assault by strangulation, assault on a female, larceny, two counts of communicating threats, two counts of first degree burglary, larceny after breaking & entering and a parole violation

Department of Corrections records show Williams got out of prison in May after serving time for larceny. His record, which goes back to 1995, also includes convictions for assault on a female, resisting arrest, drug crimes and breaking and entering.
