WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Firefighters say a Wilmington home that was damaged by flames early Sunday caught fire again early this morning.

Crews say the home at 410 North 13th street was fully engulfed when crews arrived Sunday, and although the scene Monday morning was very similar, they do not believe the fire reignited because of smoldering flames.

Firefighters say the home was a foreclosure, so no one was home at the time of the fire, but neighbors were evacuated Sunday as a precaution.

On Sunday, they said the damages to the home total around $25,000 and by Monday the damages may be closer to $50,000 because the flames went through the roof during the second fire.

Neighbors say they woke up to the sound of sirens and the smell of smoke, but no other homes nearby were damaged. There’s no word yet on what caused the two fires, or if they were related, but crews continue investigating.
