Greensboro school forfeits win; ends win streak

READ MORE:

GREENSBORO, NC (AP) -- A Greensboro high school has forfeited a win this season because it had an extra junior varsity player in a game it won 49-7.

Northern Guilford High School is forfeiting the win over Williams High School on Sept. 13, ending a 31-game win streak.

Northern Guilford is the three-time state champion in the 3-A classification.

Guilford County Schools said 13 junior varsity football players participated in the game, one more than is allowed under North Carolina High School Athletic Association rules.

The team was leading 49 to nothing when it started putting junior varsity players into the game.

The team reported the violation the next day.

The school also has been fined $250 by the athletic association.

North Guilford had last lost a game Aug. 26, 2011 to Page.
