WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A small business owner has her eye on the prize and is seeing results.

Susan Dean and her Menu Magnifiers could be featured on a Super Bowl commercial, but first she needs your help to move on to the next round.

Dean says her Menu Magnifiers by specs4menus.com make it easier for those who have forgotten their reading glasses to read a menu at a restaurant.

Dean says sometimes the best branding ideas are right before your eyes, and that’s exactly how she came up with her menu magnifiers.

Last year she went to a restaurant without her reading glasses and could not see the menu. Now her Menu Magnifiers are entered into the Intuit Small Business, Big Game contest.

“I’m really excited, and I’m asking for everyone to vote,” Dean said. “It’s up until October 13. I have to submit a 90-second video, and on October 13, it’s closed.”

Cooperative Bank used to give these out several years ago. They really are handy for any type of magnification you need!

Forgot glasses

If I don;’t have glasses handy, I probably have also “forgotten” to bring my magnifier. It is probably a handy device, but so is a screwdriver and sometimes I find myself without one when I need it. Maybe it would be wise to target placement in the restaurants instead of the users. I wouldn’t want to borrow reading glasses, but I would gladly use a communal magnifier.

You guessed it right! They are being marketed to the restaurants directly, however it’s the consumers who need to vote for our local gal to win the commercial spot during the Super Bowl.

No, it’s not the same at all. The magnifiers are being “marketed”, not “invented”. Specs4Menus.com markets magnifiers to restaurants and eateries to assist their customers in reading menus, when they have forgotten reading glasses. The restaurant advertises by having their own logo imprinted on the magnifier. It is a branding tool, not an invention. Now, let’s help a local woman get her commercial aired during the SuperBowl…..VOTE!!
