WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- This weekend marks the 35th Anniversary of Wilmington Riverfest.

Community Events, Wilmington, Riverfest, Fireworks, Events, Downtown Wilmington

Riverfest has evolved from a small festival years ago to a three-day celebration drawing in more than 150,000 visitors.

It's a family-fun shindig along the Cape Fear River with live music, arts and crafts, exhibits, dance performances, contests, children's activities, food, river events, friendly competitions and fireworks

Festival Chair Russ Deats stopped by the GMC studio to share all the fun elements party-goers can expect this weekend. Check out his full interview with Ashley Jacobs, then get even more information when you click here.

I have no desire to go to

I have no desire to go to the Riverfest, Azzalea Festival....none of them because of the crimes!

what a waste of time to go.

what a waste of time to go. i been here 16 years . been there one time never again. nothing but over price vendors , save your money and stay home.

Riverfest

Unfortunately, this year, with all of the crime around here, we might have to invest in a bullet proof vest. Last year the element there was disturbing.

Rivercrimeinfest!

Rivercrimeinfest!
That's a good 'un!

Thugs

Thugs like funnel cakes also. If only the vendors would take EBT cards.

so do

So do the rednecks cause the soft dough is easy to bite when you have no teeth.

Might be true

Sounds reasonable.
