Take Back the Night rally steps out downtown

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Organizers held the 24th annual Take Back the Night march and rally in downtown Wilmington. This event kicks off Domestic Violence Awareness month.

Cut outs remembered victims of domestic violence and reminded people of the sometimes silent nature of this problem.

Organizers want those suffering from domestic violence to know that they are not alone and help is available.

“Our goal tonight is to let people know there is hope, there are options”, Said Mandy Houvouras. “There are services here in our community for victims to access and hopefully improve their safety.”

If you or a loved one is the victim of domestic violence you can call help confidentially at 910-343-0703.
