DOWNTOWN WILMINGTON, NC (STARNEWSONLINE.COM) — Some of the most modern kitchens in Wilmington, oddly enough, are tucked into downtown's Historic District.

Nine of these kitchens will be open to the public on Oct. 12 for the Residents of Old Wilmington's eighth annual Back Door Kitchen Tour. None of this year's kitchens has been on the tour before.

"We try not to duplicate," said Phyllis Thompson, publicity co-chairperson for the event.

At least one kitchen, though, might be familiar. Chef Alicia Ross tapes her syndicated "Kitchen Scoop" for WWAY NewsChannel 3 and KitchenScoop.com in her brand-new kitchen at 502 S. Front St., with cameras built into the fixtures.
