COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Deputies in Columbus County are investigating after a shooting just outside of Tabor City left one man dead and another in the hospital.

It happened just after 6 p.m. Tuesday when they say a call came in about a shooting at a home in the 300 block of Shug Norris Road.

Deputies say that’s where they found Lee Travis Wright, 20, of Chadbourn dead inside.

They say they also found a second victim, Jonathan Elgin Long, 25, who lives at the home, with several gunshot wounds. Long was transported to Loris Hospital, but there’s no word yet on his condition.

Deputies say an autopsy in Raleigh today should determine the cause of Wright’s death, but they are not releasing any further information about the crime until that exam is complete.

This house was raided just months ago and busted with stolen guns and lots of drugs. Still they continue to sell drugs. You drive past this house and you will witness drug deals and boys walking around with guns daily. Hope none of these people see light of day again. For our communities sake. These people are trouble and poison to society. And I would say any time to be around these types of places is a wrong time.

Take yourself out of society. Maybe something like this will happen to you and someone will say you are low life. By the way you are low life to see these families going through this and try to make something else out of it than it is. Learn your fact. How do you know anything that is going on at someone house? Are you going to that house? How do you like these apples? It does not feel good when someone talks about you, does it? Judge and be judged!!!!!!!!!!

  • cool_cat01 says:

If you think that you are so high and mighty above everybody, reveal yourself. Judge and be judged!!!!!!!!!

  • Guest2020 says:

Being from a good family doesn’t make you immune to the ills of society. Drug addiction and dealing drugs happen in high highfalutin families just like they do in poor families.

  • cool_cat02 says:

You don’t know a dang thing about what goes on up there shug Norris, everybody that knows them knows its all family over there and how in the crap can you see a gun in someones pants or drug deals by “riding by”,thats what I want too know?! you aint been to that house or talked to no one up there so sounds like you are so full of crap you don’t know whether its comin out your mouth or your tail first!… and why would you try to slander a family that is going through something like this with a loved one in critical condition and a friend lost, sounds to me like your the low life with a cold heart who needs to mind their own business!

Criminal activity is everybody’s business. Some are on the committing side of the crime and others are effected by it.

This is a drug house. When you choose to sell drugs or go to these places or associate with these kind of people. You should know there is nothing good to come out of it. These people need to be taken out of society.

It has taken this long for me to read these posts! Had hoped to have read some positive things…I am so thankful that there are perfect people like you to make the world a better place. I am sure you donate your 10 % to church, poor, needy, and your time if you are not from a high fa-lotting family! I am sure you work with organization that do mission trips into the heart of people in need, young women who are pregnant, oh and lets not forget programs like CR-celebrate recovery…I am sure you give of your time and work hard to give back to your community that you drive by and judgmentally look at!!! Please let me know how to become a better person as yourself! Lee was not a drug dealer. I have his autopsy…if you need any information to add to your judgment of a fellow human being please feel free to contact me. I have it in writing…Do you? Just remember the pen is mightier than the sword! Next time you are in church please look around you are sitting with many people who fit in the category you labeled my dead son with!!! And as Im sure you have said many times….And have a Blessed DAy!!!!!!!

Not talking to you, unless you are the shug norris rd. resident.

  • CCRES says:

Hate to hurt your feelings, but Lee came from a very high class family and one that contributes beneficially to our society. So before you just jump on a bandwagon for the low class leaches in Columbus County, know some family background. No he does not need to be taken out. They are a family that will see that needy families and children have clothes and food when times are tough. They are a family who helps provide Christmas for children who would never experience Christmas. They are a family that would do without so that you may have. Don’t really know what the reason was for him being at this house other than what the picture has painted. Seems like a case of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Get your facts straight Shug Norris and stop the verbal diarrhea.

  • cool_cat02 says:

Be sure you know what you are taking about before you speak. Know the facts instead of riding by and assuming to make it your business to watch other people. By the way, you should have been there to stop them if you were watching them so closely.
