WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Police say a man who was choked until he passed out and then robbed, knew his attacker.

They say just before 3:30 a.m. Monday, a man was walking home in the 400 block of Anderson Street after going to a grocery store nearby when he passed another man that he knew.

That's when police say the passerby then walked up from behind the man walking home and choked him until he was unconscious. Police say when the man who was attacked woke up, he noticed that his money had been stolen.

They say they know who the attacker is, and are still looking for him.

if it was you that happened

if it was you that happened to get up and go to the store maybe he needed rolaids for heart burn WHATEVER his reason was for being out still does not change the fact he was robbed. it is a shame that it has got to be so bad it is not even safe to sit on your porch and enjoy the afternoon. something needs to be done TUFFER LAWS!!!! go back to the old days where if you got caught stealing your hands were cut off if you lied your tounge was cut out if you raped someone your privates were cut off the laws are just slapping them on the hand and sending them back out to cheat, steal rob lie and kill its a shame what our town has become a pure shame

In the real world ..........

In the real world, versus the world where "they keeping it real", people don't actually feel the need to go to the grocery store at 3:30 in the morning very often.

Can't ever recall getting up a 3:15 AM and saying "think I'll just go out and buy a loaf of bread". Could be wrong, but just maybe he wasn't actually going to the grocery store.

Also: What a coincidence; going to the "grocery store" at 3:30 AM and you just happen to "pass by" another person that you already know. Must have been one heck of a run on bread that night.

I have insomnia and it is

I have insomnia and it is not unheard of for me to run up to the store when the notion hits me. And believe it or not, when I get there, there are other people there.

Regardless of the reason he was out that late, he doesn't deserve to be robbed.
