I'll bet that the person

I'll bet that the person that reported the EBT card stolen actually took cash from those two. Most likely 50c on the dollar for the value of the card. They were supposed to do their shopping then and there, and return the card. Instead, they bolted with the card.

$1,000? are you kidding me?

$1,000? are you kidding me? someone bought these off someone else. sad it happens a lot, but $1,000................I would love to be able to spend that much on groceries

Simple Solution

Why can't they REQUIRE all EBT/Food Stamp/WIC holders to provide photo identification before making their purchase? And before someone shouts, you can't do that, they don't do that to people using credit/debit cards, I say so? You are using government dollars that come out of my paycheck, their should "ID" validation restrictions.

You do this, and I guarantee that that crap will eventually stop or at least slow down.

RE: Simple Solution

It isn't a requirement, but it is done by some stores. Target has done it and so has some Harris Teeter's. The user must show ID only when asked. A lot of the recipients work so it is not just your tax dollars; it is theirs as well that are being used.

stolen ebt card

Ok how did the thieves use the EBT card when you have to know what the pin# is in order to buy groceries???

Pin Number

Don't these cards come with a pin# like a debit card does. Funny how if stolen they knew the pin also. My guest is that they sold the card like I know happens and then reported it stolen. These same people will sell approach someone with this card it having $200.00 on the card and ask someone to buy it for $50.00 cash only. Most everyone I know that has these cards will have 3 or more in the same family getting these welfare, but others will then go and sell theirs to get cash as long as someone in the house buys food with the other one. This what most likely happened. I don't believe for one minute it was stolen then how did they get the pin #..Think people think.
