WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County Commissioners have thrown their support behind a plan aimed at making Market Street safer.

Commissioners today voted to support NCDOT efforts to get money to build landscaped medians on Market between MLK Parkway and Station Rd. and between Middle Sound Loop Rd. and Mendenhall Dr./Marsh Oaks Dr.

Similar medians have been planned from Marsh Oaks to Porters Neck.

The project is part of the Market Street Corridor Study, which is focused on improving safety and traffic flow along the 11-mile stretch of Market from Colonial Dr. to the Pender County line.
