Mary Lee still hanging off Carolina Beach

READ MORE:

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- The great white shark, Mary Lee, is back swimming off the shore of southeastern North Carolina.

Ocearch.org, which tagged the 16 foot, 3,500 lb great white, shows the latest ping off Freeman Park.

Local fisherman Jason Atkinson tells us he was coming into the Masonboro Inlet about 5 p.m. Tuesday when he says he saw a large fin that he believes was Mary Lee.

He says the shark was longer than the boat. They left her undisturbed.

Mary Lee

Our minds automatically remember frightening scenes from Jaws, a very fictional movie. It's sad that many people, especially those of us living on the coast, are not educated on these animals. Yes, most sharks are predators but so are domestic house cats. There are only a few types of sharks that are aggressive, they call them Bull sharks for a reason. We have to remember its THEIR ocean, we just swim in it :)

I prefer

I prefer dumb fat rednecks who sit on their couches all day and have nothing better to do than to post dumb comments on local news websites.
Come here fatty!
