WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A Leland man faces multiple charges after police say he ran a stoplight at a Wilmington intersection, causing him to slam into two other cars and a phone pole.

Police say Andraes Bryant, 25, ran through the stoplight at Red Cross Street and 5th Avenue around 6 p.m. yesterday, sparking a three-car crash that shut down the intersection for hours.

They say when Bryant first hit another car, then a telephone pole, and finally slammed into a parked car, knocking down power lines along the way.

Police say Bryant was the only one hurt in the crash, so he was taken to the hospital before being booked in the New Hanover County Jail.

Bryant is charged with DWI and reckless driving to endanger. He was later released on a $1,000 secured bond.

And, as we all know, within a month we will see this same man on the news where after being let out of jail to drive drunk again he crashed into a family and killed them! That’s the way things work around here.
Thankful the people in the 2 cars he hit are ok and the city could fix the telephone pole. and all is well…………..until…his next time..soon to come

As long as DWI is only considered a traffic violation, then there is little that those in the court system can do. DWI will only be treated more seriously if the lawmakers would treat it like a crime.
