Police, firefighters rescue deer downtown

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Police officers and firefighters rescued a deer caught out of its normal surroundings this weekend in downtown Wilmington.

Around 7 a.m. Saturday officers arrived to a home on S. 2nd St. and found the small buck upside down and caught between two fences struggling to get free. Officers and firefighters took the fences apart to get him out.

The buck was released safely into woods outside of town.

Deer Rescue

Thank goodness for our Firefighters and Police! Good job, Gentlemen! Thank you for being so kind and gentle with this poor deer. You guys are AMAZING!

Deer Downtown

Poor thing.

Thinking most people in Wilmington have had a rough morning after spending a night out downtown. Ending up upside down in between a couple of fences is probably better than it could have been.

Seriously nice to see it being rescued & released to a better area.
