RALEIGH, NC, (WWAY) -- The North Carolina Department of Transportation is apologizing for a series of inappropriate traffic alert messages.
The six messages went out over NCDOT's Traveler Information Management System, also known as 'TIMS.' NCDOT says a contractor was performing routine tests, and failed to turn off the external feed.
The alerts warned drivers to "Stay home because of women drivers, rain, and Obamacare".
The contractor was let go immediately.
