WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) -- Police say a Wilmington man who's previous crimes brought him fame through a cable TV show is at it again.

WPD says Monday an officer was patrolling the 5200 block of Market Street when he noticed a white man breaking into a coin machine. The man ran from the officer, but was caught a few blocks away.

Kylen Duane Padgett Jr., 26, of Wilmington, is charged with breaking and entering of a coin operated machine, possession of burglary tools, resisting arrest and possession of a moped with an altered VIN. Padgett is in the New Hanover County Jail under a $10,000 bond.

WPD says Padgett was featured on the Discovery Channel's series "I Almost Got Away with It." Police say when Padgett was 19, he was arrested for a crime spree in Wilmington and New Hanover County. The television series highlighted a jury acquitted Padgett of a 2007 attempted murder charge. Police say not long after than he reverted back to his old ways by robbing wealthy home owners. The crime-spree launched a county-wide manhunt.

The Department of Corrections website shows Padgett's criminal record includes convictions for larceny, breaking and entering, resisting officers and other crimes. He got out of prison in April after nearly three and a half years behind bars.

Folks....

They were filming a sequel to the first show!
I Swanee!

wow

Crazy I just saw this guy on discovery channels TV series "I almost got away with it" and now he's back in jail... He will never learn give him another 5 years at least..I hope the judge looked at all his priors.

needs prayer

All of the comments towards this young man are justifiably harsh. He still is a troubled young man with an obvious mental illness that needs help. Please say a prayer for this guy and his family. He definetly needs it.

Put him in a cage...

Where he belongs. Again, we have someone that takes what is not his. Judges need to up their game just like WPD and show criminals they mean business. He has a history....look at it!

Not going to change

This punk is going to be in and out of jail the rest of his life by the looks of it. His arrest record is a mile long. He looks pretty doped up in this picture too. Probably trying to steal money to get his fix. To bad he can't just OD and save all of us tax payers who work for a living some money!

garbage

He has proven he can't live in a civil society, just be done with this piece of trash.

hahahaha thats what u get

hahahaha thats what u get for going on a show i almost got away with it now ppl know hes a crook so serves him right lol

TskTskTsk

For the past 7+ yrs. this fool has been in and out of jail/prison anmd his bond is set at only 10,000. I guess that is so he can get out and commit another robbery, one that could end up going wrong and someone dies...... What is wrong with this judicial system?

at least

he is required to post a bond if it is secured. Were he a gang banger running around Wilmington with a gun, likely no bond required and the NAACP would likely demand an apology be made to him for the inconvenience.
