Shelby teenager charged in 17-year-old's death

GASTONIA, N.C. (AP) - Authorities say a Shelby man is accused in connection with the shooting death of a 17-year-old in Gastonia high school student.

Gastonia Police Det. Jimmy Arndt said 18-year-old Taikeem De'Vuntae Littlejohn was found by police Tuesday at the home he apparently shared with his mother. Littlejohn was taken into custody without incident and faces a first-degree murder charge in the slaying of 17-year-old Brandon Heath McCall, a student at Hunter Huss High School.

Police say McCall was shot Saturday and tried to drive away. His car crashed into another vehicle and a utility pole. McCall died at the scene.

Littlejohn is also charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon. He is being held under $250,000 bond at the Gaston County Jail, and it's not known if he has an attorney.
