Couple charged with restaurant break-in, robbery

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) -- A Brunswick County couple is charged with breaking into and robbing a Calabash restaurant earlier this month.

Brunswick County Sheriff's detectives say James Alan Howarth, 36, and Tina Louise Watts, 35, of Calabash broking into the Seafood Hut Nov. 8. According to arrest warrants, the couple stole $1,400 and caused $200 worth of damage.

They are charged with felony conspiracy, injury to personal property, breaking and entering and larceny after breaking/entering. Watts is in the Brunswick County Jail under $25,000 bond. Howarth is in jail under $27,000 bond.

The Department of Corrections website shows Watts has a record that includes multiple drug-related convictions. Howarth's record includes convictions for DWI, assault on a female and worthless checks. He also has pending charges in Brunswick County for assault on a female and resisting arrest among others, according to court records.
