WILMINGTON, NC, (WWAY) — A power outage hit several homes near the 5900 block of Wrightsville Avenue in Wilmington Monday night.

Police said a car crashed into a utility pole around 9 p.m. and knocked down power lines which cut off electricity to some homes.

Police said the driver and passenger got into an argument right before the accident. The passenger had to go to the hospital for minor injuries.

Police said 43-year-old James Valentine II was cited for reckless driving.

Police said it could take up to three hours to repair the utility pole.

I think that James Valentine II owes everyone in the Sea Gate and Winter Park neighborhoods an apology for his actions. He caused a lenghty power outage during a very good football game. No one in these areas could even go to the neighborhood bars because they were without power. Shame on you Mr. Valentine

I second that!! The article says a “few homes” I say more like a couple 100

This town is full of idiot drivers that do not pay attention…. I hope this driver was cited.
